Slowdown in H-1B Processing

October 8, 2010

Be aware that the USCIS has significantly slowed down processing of H-1B visa petitions, particularly at the California Service Center. Some cases have been pending over four months. Delays in adjudication can cause challenges with international travel, and in some instances, in renewing driver's licenses. Employees should check requirements of their state DMV offices ahead of time. There is always the option of rewarding the government for its slowdown – paying a $1000 filing fee to upgrade the case to a 15 day adjudication timetable via premium processing.
