White House to Let Omicron Presidential Proclamation Lapse on December 31

December 29, 2021

White House Assistant Press Secretary Kevin Munoz confirmed on Twitter that effective December 31, the White House will lift Proclamation 10315, which suspended and limited entry for certain immigrants and nonimmigrants who were physically present in eight African nations due to the onset of the COVID-19 Omicron variant.

The November 29 ban barred nearly all non-U.S. citizens who had recently been in South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Namibia, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

While these restrictions will be lifted, individuals traveling into the United States will remain subject to the COVID-19 vaccination requirements under Proclamation 10294, as well as related travel requirements issued by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for travel to the United States.
